Progress

Progress has come to a halt because it hasn't stopped raining! Darn! The quarry looks like the beginnings of a dam. The roof for the existing house has been delivered, but there again the builder couldn't start that because of the rain.

Now it's the day before Easter and the rain seems to have stopped. I am glad for the campers. I just hope it's gone forever so our house can be built..

The First Day of Works

Building commenced on 21 March 2111 and the builder anticipates completing the house by the middle of September.

Les and I were on holidays at Noosaville at the time and what a shock when we arrived home in the pouring rain. The backyard looked like a quarry (still does) and the flat has gone. One kitchen wall was boarded up awaiting a glass door and still is. The gas wasn't connected to the stove and there was dirt and dust everywhere. Luckily the back stairs remain which makes for easier access to the laundry. The other alternative exit from the house is the front stairs of which there are twenty. I won't be climbing those too often if I can help it.

No clothesline anymore. I can only use the carport to hang things and to get to that I have to push the laundry trolley down one side of the house over an uneven concrete path, up the hill that is our front yard then onto the driveway which leads to the carport. I tell myself that I won't go mad, but I've got my doubts!

The gas was connected to the stove the next day and there's still dirt and dust everywhere. To top it all off there is no shelter to get into the front door or back door so when it rains you get very wet.

I tell myself nothing lasts forever!
